Myofascial Release (MFR) is the use of props such as balls, blocks, foam rollers to affect soft tissues such as muscles and fascia. This practice works to support recovery, improve mobility and hydrate the tissues. Yin yoga uses long poses to target deep connective tissues including fascia to bring deep relaxation as well as promoting improved flow of energy or qi. The combination of Myofascial Release techniques with Yin yoga can be practiced together in a wonderful synergy for nurturing mental and physical wellbeing as well as deepening our mind-body connection.


We'll begin the practice with mindful MFR techniques to target trigger points using props (balls, foam rollers, hands). Then we'll follow MFR with soft still-ish Yin pose that targets the same area or range of area, and is sometimes supported by blankets and bolsters. By combining both MFR and yin, we'll foster a deeper release, a richer sense of connection to the body and experience a new level of letting go. 

Please bring your massage balls/foam rollers from home. We will also have tennis balls available for participants.
