November 17th - Vata Flow
Vata dosha is associated with the autumn and early winter season, as the air becomes crisp, and the leaves begin to turn, fly and eventually fall in parts of the world. Vata's elements are air and ether, and its energy is thought of as erratic, dry, rough, windy, subtle, and cold. Ayurvedic practices believe that like attracts like, therefore this flow will be the opposite of flowy - we will ground vata's energy.
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of natural healing built around the 5 elements of air, ether, fire, water, and earth. The practice of Ayurveda believes we all carry a different makeup of each of these elements. The unique combinations come together to make up the doshas - kapha, pitta, and vata. Doshas are energetic forces of nature that help us better understand ourselves and the world around us. What Ayurveda also teaches us is that we are all guided by the same laws of nature, and when we don't follow the daily and seasonal rhythms that nature provides, imbalances can begin to surface.
Vata is scattered and sometimes lost, so we'll ground.
